GLOW by JL is an independent press-on nail resource. We publish guides, comparisons, and how-to pieces for people who want salon-grade press-ons that actually last two full weeks — not three days.

What we cover

Our scope is press-on nails and the adjacent care that decides whether they last: nail prep, glue and adhesive tabs, removal, repair, sizing, and the brands worth your money. We don’t drift into gel polish tutorials, acrylic extensions, or salon nail-art trends — those are different problems with different audiences. Press-ons are what we know, and where we can be most useful.

Why we cover it

Press-ons used to be a punchline. They aren’t anymore. Brands like KISS, Static Nails, Glamnetic, and Olive & June have made sets that, applied properly, hold up through showers, gym sessions, and dishes for two weeks at a stretch. The catch is that almost no one applies them properly — because the instructions in the box leave out the steps that actually matter. We exist to close that gap, in plain language, with the steps in the right order.

How we choose what to recommend

Every recommendation on this site has to clear four bars before it gets named in a guide:

• Durability: the set has a credible 10–14 day wear claim backed by either our own testing or aggregated user reviews, not just marketing copy.
• Value: the per-wear cost is reasonable for the wear length and reusability profile.
• Brand legitimacy: the brand is a real operator with traceable manufacturing, a returns policy, and a customer service channel that responds.
• Material spec: the brand discloses what the nail is made of (ABS, polygel, soft gel) and we agree the material fits the wear claim.

Who writes this

GLOW by JL is written and edited by [FOUNDER]. The short version: years of trying every press-on brand sold in the US drugstore aisle and online, ruining a lot of natural nail beds learning what not to do, and finally getting two-week wear consistently — first by accident, then on purpose. The site exists because most of the press-on content online is either a brand’s own advertorial or a thirty-second TikTok that skips the part that matters. We write the long version.
